The Inmates Have Taken Over

I have decided to take a bit of a different tack. With all of the political wrangling currently going on, I feel compelled to put voice to some of my thoughts on the situation as it affects the writing I am currently doing for publication. The new book is a prediction of what would happen if the Islamic world decided to do an attack on Western Civilization, and the current political climate in the USA has a huge bearing on how we are perceived. I cannot believe the stupidity of the American people. They take everything said by the talking heads on the TV news as gospel. People don't seem to realize the networks only put on the side of the story they want you to see. They only tell the side that promotes their agenda and demonize any person or idea that differs. If you are a liberal, you are one of the blessed: if conservative, you are evil. God help America! The inmates have taken over the asylum. No wonder we are regarded so increduously by the rest of the world. The Obama administration and its effects on the economy and its refusal to enforce immigration laws is beyond my comprehension. Having lived 73 years through all sorts of government debacles, one would think I would have a better grasp of the situation than most, and I hope I do. A president who deliberately scoffs at the laws he has sworn to uphold is unconscionable. My father fought to have the USA be a free and safe country, but I see how our government has become the citizens of the country's worst enemy. This is not all Mr. Obama's fault, though he has compounded the problem. The blame goes to Congress and the Supreme Court as well as to the Presidency. I firmly believe we need to revamp the entire system so that can no longer happen. More on this later.

Our Greatest Enemy

I just received an email from a boyhood friend about a warning from a former Israeli agent who has lectured on anti-terrorism and is now a consultant to Congress. Sadly, those whom he has informed of the threats think we are too stupid or unable to handle the reality. Israel has a totally different approach to security than the USA. They are proactive, whilst America is reactive. it's a sad thing to say that the leadership of the United States is not informing people of the real dangers that exist. Since taking down Osama bin Laden, the terrorists have vowed revenge. US security policies are filled with political correctness to the terrorists tremendous advantages. Liberals in the United States have crippled our security agencies with things like anti-profiling that aids people who are trying to do us harm. Another attack like 9/11 is going to have to occur before this country wakes up to what it is really facing. I believe that our greatest threat is going to be from home-grown terrorists. Patriotism is a word rarely heard any more. Our schools no longer teach things like civics or American government. The children growing up in this day age have no idea of our history. They have no idea of what those who have gone before them have given in suffering and dying in fighting for their freedoms. We have only ourselves to blame. We have stood by and allowed people to pervert or circumvent our laws. By doing this, we have opened the door and invited in, unwelcome guests. I have met the enemy, and he is us.

To Tea or Not to Tea?????

For the first 40 years of my life, I was a Democrat. I worked to get Nancy Pelosi's father, Thomas D'Alesandro, and her brother, Tommy,Jr., elected as mayor of Baltimore, Maryland. I was a huge supporter of mayor then governor, William Donald Schaeffer. Then I began to see that the Dems had moved away from me. They began looking more and more like the socialists with their policies. I became increasingly disenchanted. I finally realized my views were much more conservative than the right wing of the Democratic Party. One of the things that really upset me was that they resorted to labeling anyone who thought like me as lunatic or weirdo. Anyone who did not buy into the leftist ideology was demonized in the liberally dominated media. With 99% of the media controlled by liberals, they can easily besmirch any conservative as "an extremist," or even worse, as a fool. Look at how the media of every ilk did its best to characterize George W. Bush as a buffoon. Every minor idiosyncrasy was made into a major issue. Demeaning him became a national sport for the media.
Now the same thing is happening with those associated with the Tea Party movement. I am not a Tea Partyer, yet! However, I can empathize with them. My frustration with the rapid plunge toward Socialism the government is bringing about through the machinations of Obama/Pelosi leadership, moves me closer to the realm of the Tea Partyers. Before today my political commentary has been limited to yelling at the television or at the telephone when told to "press 1 for English." I now see myself as a voice crying out in the wilderness, "Watch out for socialism and the death of American Ideals." Heed not my words, and U.S.A., R.I.P..
